Standards and Qualifications


The CSWI course is recognized by the Wilderness Guides Association as a Training program.

This means that we use the same standards and qualifications as the WGA.

WGA Guide

A CSWI Level 1 Guide can apply for WGA Level 1 certification after:

A minimum of 28 training days ( Level 1 Course)
A minimum of 28 days of (assistant) guiding under supervison of an aproved organization (with overnight experience)
A minimum of 1 specialization
A valid WFA certification

A CSWI Level 2 Guide can apply for WGA Boreal forest Level 2 certification after:

A minimum of 28 days of training (level 2 course)
A minimum of 28 days of extra guiding within Level 2 competences (with at least one week non-stop with overnight experience)
A minimum of 3 specializations
A valid WFA certification

WGA Boreal forest level 2 standards

A CSWI Level 3 Guide can apply for WGA Boreal forest Level 3 certification after:

A total of >100 days guiding experience
A minimum of 4 specializations
A minimum experience of one expedition of 21 days
A valid WFA certification
